OBJECTIVES:
Nalanda International is a non-profit organization founded to support and conduct non-partisan research, education, and informational activities in the fields of Indic philosophies, psychologies, sciences, healing paradigms, social and cultural forms and spiritual practices,
so as to
- increase professional and public awareness of these areas of knowledge;
- bring these areas of knowledge into engagement with modern thought and culture, so as to facilitate a mutually transformative growth of human understanding;
- provide a forum for the eclectic, interdisciplinary exchange of information and creative expressions among subscribers of the professional community and the general public who are studying and working in these areas;
- facilitate the development of a world culture and society of the future based on an in-depth understanding of human nature and its expressions;
- provide a broad spectrum of online and onsite religious and educational programs having appeal to subscribers of the general public and to professionals and specialists including, but not limited to Indologists, Jungian and Transpersonal Psychologists, specialists in South Asian and Asian area studies, Cultural Historians, Archeologists, Anthropologists, Social and Political Theorists, Musicologists, specialists in the Cosmologies of modern Science, Evolution Theorists, Healthcare professionals, Social workers, Idealistic economists, Educators and Creative Artists;
- periodically publish professional quality newsletters, journals and/or similar online and printed media containing articles, papers and reviews of relevant books and films in the above fields;
- sponsor conferences and other special events which are open to professionals and the general public and which further serious study and research in the above areas;
- open chapters of activity internationally to carry out above activities in these areas at locations decided by the board;
- open centers of specialized research, education and information dissemination in these areas at locations to be decided by the board;
- appoint committees to serve advisory and/or operational functions in these areas as decided by the board.
- support individuals and other organizations involved in the extension of these areas of study;
- recognize through honors and contributions to organizations and individuals, excellence of research and educational and practical achievement in the above areas.
- Accept donations, grants and legacies for purposes related to the objectives of the center.
- Offer periodical subscriptions to individuals and organizations based on donations for services of the center.

A two-day conference will be held Friday, September 11 and Saturday September 12 on the topic "Fundamentalism and the Future." The conference will be at the California Institute of Integral studies in San Francisco (1453 Mission Street), hosted by the Department of Asian and Comparative Religions. The conference organizers are Rich Carlson, Debashish Banerji and David Hutchinson. Registration is free.
